Scott Greenawalt - Kansas State University
One of the top strength coaches in the country, Scott Greenawalt begins his fourth season as the strength and conditioning coach for the Kansas State men’s basketball team.
Greenawalt has played a major role in helping revitalize the Wildcat program under head coaches Bob Huggins and Frank Martin, which has posted three consecutive 20-win seasons for the first time in 27 years.
“I will reiterate what Coach Huggins has said about Scott,” said Martin. “He is by far the best in the business for what he does. I think our success this past season is a direct indication of the job Scott Greenawalt does in the weight room. We don’t win 66 games the past three seasons without Scott Greenawalt.”
In the past three years, Greenawalt has helped coach six all-conference players, including unanimous first team selection as well as the Big 12 Player and Freshman of the Year Michael Beasley.
In addition to his duties with the men’s program, Greenawalt also trains the women’s basketball team, which captured the Big 12 regular season championship in 2007-08 and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament the past two seasons.
Greenawalt joined the staff as strength and conditioning coach on April 26, 2006 after spending the previous eight years in the strength and conditioning department at Cincinnati, including the last seven as head assistant coach. He began his tenure at the school as a strength training intern in May 1999 before being promoted to assistant in July 2000. He coordinated all the weight training and conditioning for the men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and volleyball teams, while assisting with the football program
Greenawalt, 34, earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education and health from Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, in 1998. He was a four-year starter at linebacker for the Muskies from 1993-96, earning All-Ohio Athletic Conference honors three times and serving as team captain as a senior. Upon graduation, Greenawalt spent a year as assistant football coach at his alma mater (1997-98), working with the squad’s inside linebackers and assisting with all aspects of the strength program.
